about 2 weeks ago I accomplished this mod but I decided to step it up a bit. I figured 1 and 1/4in piping was a bit small to get noticeable gains, not saying that UR2EZ's sizing was inadequate, but seeing as he chose it because it fit the power duct port perfectly without modification. I decided to go with 2 and 1/2in piping to optimize flow, but of course modification was needed. I outlined the piping on the box and cut it to an exact fit. The piping itself had to be shortened by 3in so that it would sit in the bottom of the box flush but still stuck far enough in so the pipe wouldnt work its way out. I also had to cut the funnel-end of the pipe at a slight angle since the pipe is at an angle coming down from the box since i did no use an elbow to the stacking. Once everything lined up snugly, I secured the piping with zipties which worked wonderfully and of course before full install i sprayed the end of the pipe black to match the funnel. The parts i had to acquire from Home Depot, The ACE Hardware in my area did not have the pipe sizing i needed nor the plastic roof stacking.

After the install:

I noticed everything was MUCH louder! My Bassani exhaust is much deeper at idle and while driving, Big difference! While revving the engine the "intake suck" is deeper and more pronounced. When I first revved it my friend was standing in front of the car and he told me "Dude, that things loud as **** now!" I went to hear him rev it and I was shocked
As far as the butt dyno it pulls slightly harder in the midrange and higher rpms when the car is already moving. Needless to say the entire mod itself took less than 40mins and was under $12 so i would recommend it

Thanks to UR2EZ for the simple DIY. Made this thing a breeze to install

pics at the bottom to see my actual install...

no, because there's no suction into the tube. if fyou ever did happen to drive into a pond or something, there would not be enough suction to pull the water up into the airbox because the main opening is still where the majority of air enters. This mainly works when you're driving at +40mph, and a decent amount of air is entering the tube. i've had mine on for almost 3 years now i think, and never had any problems despite having driven in some serious *** downpours/puddles.

what i have done however, to prevent excess amounts of dirt from hitting my filter is, i took a piece of cotton filter media, and stretched it over the end of the pipe before wedgind it into the airbox opening.

I just removed the resonators from each box because I'm not really sold on there being any benefit of running it a few inches to the front, and I haven't noticed any difference in sound. Any problem in doing that? Is there any reason why having a tube connected to it would change the sound, as opposed to just leaving it as a hole in the bottom of the box?

Yea if you leave it like that the hole will suck in hot air from the engine bay... you want the air to come from outside, and the benefits of it being pushed in by a funnel with air pressure as you drive
