You can get the 5 quart jugs of 5w-30 at Walmart for $20. How did you get 30 quarts for basically free? I'm confused.

Sometimes Pepboys and Autozone has the deals for $1.99 or 2.99 for a quart.

figure all over the world 1 qt of mobil 1 is 5 dollars, y do you pay 50. and a mobile 1 oil filter is 10 bucks all over. so 5 x 5 = 25 and a ten filter is 35 so you saved 5 dollars. as i said before im not trying to insult you, but i dont see how you aved alot. maybe they over charge where you live.

Probably do over charge here, but we dont have state income tax though, instead everything that you buy is taxed except food at the store. Mobil 1 is $6.15 a quart here and i need 5 quarts then its taxed as well and the oil filter i checked was 12.00. so w/e that is plus 6.5 % sales tax......

whatever i was just posting it to tell people they could save a little bit. i guess it only saves if you live in florida...

It's $22 at Walmarts in SoCal. We're getting screwed here in Cali. That's it... I'm moving to Texas. Hahaha.

It is not good to start with synthetic because the initial break-in requires that some wear occur to seat the rings. Once that initial process is complete, synthetic will reduce the progress of wear inside the engine - thus extending the life of your motor. The point here is that you MUST start with normal oil for the break-in. Switching after that is prodent and recommended.

I've heard this theory a lot before, and I think if it were really true, then a lot of the companies that use mobil 1 synthetics as a factory fill wouldn't be doing so. However, if it were to be true, then the engine you get in a new Corvette or new Mercedes AMG would already have thousands of miles on it from the break-in period in preparation for the synthetic oil.

And doesn't most engine wear occur at startup when the oil hasn't reached the valves and piston rings yet? I think just starting it up introduces enough wear regardless if a synthetic or dead dyno juice is being used. Because of this, I was going to consider an Amsoil pre-oiler, which bythabay installed on his sedan.

Anyone else want to chime in?
