So Yeah.....got a call from the dealer yesterday and the tech wanted to know what all the parts that came in the JWT Clutch and Flywheel kit i brought up were, and if i had any instructions. To make a long story short, he couldn't figure it all out, asked the foreman, the foreman said "no way" so they are putting in a new factory clutch now. Needless to say i am a little nervous about the finished product here.

I've personally never done a clutch/fly on these G's, but have on other vehicles over the years. I don't understand why they can't figure out a basic aftermarket clutch/fly install.

I'll wish good thoughts for you on your swap with them.

Update- V2 has been in for a week now. At 250 miles i notice it was halfway between H and L and between 5-600 it was on L so i put in a quart. By 750-800 it is back a half quart low. So that means i burned a quart in the past 500 miles on the new V2. I am going to get an oil change tomorrow and hopefully begin the consumption test again. I bet that the NEXT engine STILL burns. I am about to speak to a lawyer about buyback options cause this is the biggest POS i have ever owned

Wow...that's really bad OC. Sorry to hear your replacement is so bad.

If you let them do one more, that's final repair attempt as far as buy-back goes. Think it depends what state tho. Cali is like what I just stated. NY have no idea.

Cool haiii!!!

Hello, i've been lurking in this forum for a little bit, because i'd like to get a 05/06 G35x sometime in the near future (or even next summer if my max holds up until then!). I must say that i've been reading up on all the issues associated with the car, and i'm very dissapointed to see all the OC issues with an otherwise great car.

It seems that OC has been known to plague non-rev up VQs as well.

My question is:
Were/Are there any 05/06 X owners experiencing OC problems?

I'd certainly hate to fork over $20-21K for a car, and have the engine replacement fiasco!!!

Thank You!!!!

^LOL...

Have heard, as you, non revups having OC. Which years...can't remember. I have a revup so that's all I remember with other revup owner years.

Long readings, but read ALL OC threads start to finish. Non revs are in those somewhere and probably disclose which years

Poll is outdated, but does show non rev-ups and which years too...........

Thanks!

I've read both OC threads beginning to end, and the OC seems to span
the 03-07 ranges with the Rev-UPs being most pronounced.

It seems that non-rev-ups have also reported some OC, but it's not clear whether it was only during the first 10,000 miles.

I've also heard of 03 maximas having the same issue.

The problem is that i haven't specifically seen any Xs complaing.

^Haven't, with my memory, on all wheel drive G's either.

Know you said read both OC threads, assuming this thread as one of them. I know two additional from this one. Maybe one of those you haven't researched in where-as one you have already. Here's the other two I know:

https://g35driver.com/forums/g-spot/...-your-oil.html
https://g35driver.com/forums/tsb-tec...ption-tsb.html

This one on 350Z's. Some G35'ers post here too, I do under different SN.

(sorry for the long (and duplicate from "check your oil") post -- I would REALLY appreciate any help)

I have an 03 6MT with 90K miles that I bought from a private owner last year. I have taken it to infiniti dealers since I bought it. A month ago, at 3K post oil change, it started making all the noises everyone else is talking about--turns out it had "a coffee cup" of oil left and my light didn't even come on. no leak. after 1K miles, it has twice been about half way b/t L and H. the mechanic mentioned I may need a new engine but didn't mention that this is a common issue as this forum seems to suggest. I probably don't know as much technically as many on this forum. So, here are my questions:

Is getting a new engine inevitable?

I saw someone say there is a 5yr/70K warranty on engine--sorry to be so ignorant about these things but is it "whichever comes first?" so I would be out of luck at 90K?

Has anyone had any luck getting Infiniti to pay for this repair (mechanic said it would be about $10K)? hired lawyers? I simply do not have the money.

Anyone have infiniti dealer recommendations in Chicago or surrounding?

What is the "tsb" I saw mentioned in posts?

What should I be doing to keep it from doing other permenent damage in the meantime?

Thanks so much for your time!

Replied to you in the other thread:
https://g35driver.com/forums/3478331-post1093.html

And here's where the TSB is, though doesn't cover your year of VQ:

I just bought my 05 g35 6mt coupe from Carmax. Say I monitor the oil, and god forbid it does have that issue. Can I take it any Nissan dealership to do the oil consumption test. And if replacement is needed god forbid that as well, will the factory warranty still cover it. And will I be paying any money out of my pocket?
