Oil light doesnt come on because there is oil pressure, but if theres no oil then how is there oil pressure.....and therefore why didnt the oil light come on? I JUST DON'T GET IT......INFINITI just wants customers to BLOW UP THEIR engines and "blame" the customer for not changing their oil on time, just so they don't have to take care of the problem.......

Thanks for your advice, but i'm actually looking into a non-revup 05/06 G35x
(which i haven't heard/read of anything bad about)

You misunderstand the purpose of the oil pressure light. It's there to warn you in the event of LOW oil pressure. In which case, if you're low on oil, you'd have low oil pressure.

I'm still driving a '97 MAXI. When i start it cold in the morning, the oil pressure light goes on (and flickers a bit) during start up. (which is normal, and makes sense)

i've got an 06' Coupe MT Stock and I know that it needs an engine replacement because I measure the oil consumption myself.

is there an advantage to waiting to get my engine replacement done now or should i wait a while??

also, is the engine replacement a brand new engine or a rebuilt one?

i have a 05 AT and in the past month ive lost about a quart.. im using royal purple 10w30 and in a lil worried.. went by the dealer they said that theyll have to do 3 oil changes to determine if there really is a problem.. my worry is that theyll try to **** me over.. like use a thicker oil or something to get out of a new engine..

If you look in your owners manual, you may find that your 2005 + vehicle requires an API SM rated oil to maintain the warranty on the engine. If you look on the bottle of RP 10W-30, you will find RP is an older API SL rated oil, for 2004 and previous vehicles. Might not be wise to tell the dealer what kind of oil you've been runing in the engine or your warranty may very well be in jeopardy.

Next time, use a better, more up to date API SM rated oil. Good luck with it.

You have a revup VQ?
If so, look at TSB consumption chart.
Don't think you'll be pissed after seeing that, if in fact you own a revup.
Your at 12mm for TSB lingo if that helps

True...keep hearing more and more non-revups going South with OC.

Do dealers go by revup TSB chart with non revups? Always wondered about that.

I have been burning about 3/4 of a quart between changes on the new motor installed in august, now with almost 20k on it. At first consumption was terrible, i finally decided to beat the living crap out of it during the end of break in and it sealed up and just keeps getting better.

Today i just installed the JWT Spacer as an additional measure of safety

Yea OC on my replacement is eh.... still happening. See my sig.
Have ~7K+ and have started romping rather hard.
Will see if it improves or gets worse.
Couldn't wait for the ~15K+ for 100% break-in for things to be seal up.
My most recent UOA says ok to go for it, so I am....
