No kidding I upgraded my tranny, LSD, & final drive. Mucho Dinero, and it never seems to end. Oh, well. Thanks for all the insight. It is much appreciated. I will give Sam a call. Thanks again...

Finally after 5 consistent oil consumption tests, they have ordered my VQ.

Does anyone know if I will be receiving a new engine or a rebuild? just curious from those that have gone through this....also any problems after the swap?

thx!

GTM in Riverside County - Contact Info?

If you like or know about Sam at GTM. I'd suggest giving them a call and probably get a ballpark figure.
Have heard many good things about that shop. Think they're in Riverside County.
There's many options when it comes to rebuilding which changes the cost a lot.

Anyone have contact info for Sam at GTM?? Muchos Gracias

In case no one knew, Infiniti has revised their TSB on the OC issue.
Same revision with 350Z's. Both on 2-27-08.
They have eliminated the 0-500 and 501-1000 mile 'no good' columns.
The remaining chart is the same as the original TSB.

I also just got a new engine. Picked it up less than a week ago. On the way home the SES came on - O2 sensor and camshaft position actuator. I called the dealer on the way home. He told me to clear out the codes and see if they come back. They did the next day, so now I have to take the car back tomorrow. The biggest pain in the *** about this is the closest dealer is 1.25 hours away.

Well, after taking my car to the dealership because of unsual noises and the check engine light coming on. I was told that my car had almost no oil!!! This coming after the fact that I had changed my oil just 3K miles ago.

Needless to say, I'v started my oil consumption testing and based on what's happened already will probably getting a new engine as well

How many 2007's are not having this issue? The poll only shows 3 G35's 6mt with oil consumption issues. How many are not experiencing this problem? Did they change any aspect of the engine for the 07's from the 05-06?

My 2007 6mt coupe has 3246 miles on the clock. I just checked my oil and it is 9mm low on the dipstick. According to the TSB chart I am well with in the "OK" range.

When I do my first oil change at 3750 miles my G will have used approx 1/2 qt of oil. Still this is well within the range of "OK".

Now granted my engine is still new and perhaps I consumed oil while the rings were seating themselfs in. But when I do go to Infiniti for my first oil change I will have them record it and have it on file for future reference.

I broke the engine in according to the owners manual and in my experience I used more oil than what I believe is acceptable. On the optimistic side, I don't have the pinging problems that other G owners are having, but summer is still just around the corner.

They may have changed the engine at the end of the production run for 2007to the V2 version. The TSB states that 2005 -2007 G35 6mt Coupes built before May 29, 2007 may be affected by this Oil consumption problem.

at 600 miles on an oil change my car is now reading 15mm low on the dipstick, 3/4 of the way down to the L. Thats pretty bad, no? I am scheduled to go back next week for the first 1,000 mile oil reading on the consumption test so we will see what happens

According to the TSB you should receive a new engine. If you lose more than 8mm by 1,000 miles you are considered in the No Good area.

my oil light comes on religously every 997 miles...add another quart of mobile 1...996-997 miles later my fav light comes back on...POS...it seems that the MT are primarily experiencing the problem. Infiniti really needs to get their $hit together
