I only heard of one 07 6mt coupe on here with consumption issues. Dude was from Canada.
Maybe most 07's have those different rings like your new long block, idk.
Haven't heard anything on the new VQ35HR's either.

^^^ Look in your owners manual.
Can't remember all the reccommended intervals, but do remember the 'premium' care interval. That's at every 3750mi. The other shedules are longer/more miles between oil services of which still stay within Infiniti's reccommendations and engine warranty.

I did the 3750 interval with Dino oil, now I do 5000 interval with Synth. My dealer agreed/suggested the 5000k interval running Synth.

Premium Maintenance (every 3,750 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first.

Schedule 1 (every 3,750 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first)

Schedule 2 (every 7,500 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first)

Get a Lawyer and fight Nissan, Infiniti.
We all bought a fairly expensive car, too expensive for this non-sense.
I'm filing suit against Nissan/Infiniti, I suggest you all do the same. They're going to string you along as long as they can. They'll continue to inconvenience you with 1000mile checks while then never deliver an engine to anyone who is short of a catostrophic failure (mine had to die before the engine was replaced)...
If you're like me you detected the problem at mile 2900 or so, took it in, found you had about 2cups - 1.5 quarts left. You went back every 1000 miles which brings you to 6000 miles, they had you come back every 1000 miles while infiniti tries to get you an engine.. Me, I refused to put a drop in, the car died at 8500 miles as a result... ..
You gut strung along for months and months. before you know it your sitting on a car with a crap engine 9 months into ownership.. maybe longer....
you ask about your engine again.. Nothing happens. .. before you know it you've had your car for `12 months.. you're no longer in the window to file under the lemon law. .. you are locked into a car that doesn't run properly with no signs of it being improved. Infiniti has produced a new engine for the 07 and 08.. Most 06's are out of this Lemon stage.. The results? Well, as people find the problem they get pushed aside and eventually get a new crap engine. eventually you're outside of your warranty.. end result, you have a car, with a bum engine, and nothing can be done about it. You own a car that will burn oil for the rest of it's life because everyone else has accepted it and Nissan/Infiniti was never forced to produce a NEW engine. Why aren't eh 07 engines put in the cars with the oil problem...?? Why..? because they have these crap engines standing by, waiting to be installed, why use a good engine on the car when you can use a bad one...
Anyway, like I said, file a lawsuit, or you'll end up with a car that will give you headaches forever.
Hmmm.. the trade for a Ford F250 doesn't sound so bad anymore.. does it..?

34 AT's vs. 126 MT's - just in the poll!!!

Looks like a weird MT related version issue...unless there are too many AT's keeping quiet....

Good luck all...

It's in the Revvup engines. There is something wrong with them, it's a design flaw and it will be on every replacement engine you get that is designated a VQ revvup.
I fully intend to get every penny back from Infiniti. I have been left stranded twice now. One time was with my 5 months pregnant wife on our first day of vacation in FL. It was Mem. Weekend, we had to find our own rental car as well!

That reminds me, I have to get reimbursed for that rental still ..

Also, don't forget to exercise your lemon law rights. "Typically" if a car has been brought to the dealership 4 times for same problem without it being resolved you have an excellent case for a buy back.

Original thread starter should add year 07. 07 coupes have the same VQ. 07 sedans don't, they got the new VQ35HR. Curious if the problem has continued on the 07 coupes too.

+1 . . . That's an excellent idea.

BTW . . . For those that have not seen this. The following link is a very interesting/beneficial read over on the My350Z boards.

OK, so the new question is this.. What kind of power loss did we suffer from the V2 ECU remapping?
My car was sold to me with XXX number of HP and TQ .. does it still have that? I'd think not if they changed the valve timing..

i am noticing about 3 1/2 quart loss every 2k miles. First of all what is the problem? Bad rings is suppose. Second how can i present this problem to the dealer without having them give me the run around and end up having them tell me its all my fault? Thanks.

Man.. This car is really upsetting.

The Revups pistons, rings, and lands are junk as far as I am concerned. I opted to do the tear down and rebuild myself, and this is what I was rewarded with. Keep in mind at the time of the pictures it had a whole 16K on it. Well EVERY ring land was either fractured or broke. A lot of oil build up on the top of every piston. Just not what I really expected to see...well you can see the difference with what I replaced it with and so far not a drop of oil burned! I think this is the problem. Thought the pictures would be good for you to see......

I work at infiniti and myself and the technicians, shop foreman, and service manager are well aware of this issue and how to fix it but it is not up to us. We have to follow infiniti "guideline" for their warranty repairs. I actually commented on this a while back when I first started on this forum and was told I was wrong that it was a fault in the heads and blah blah blah. But glad to see someone opened up a motor and actually noticed the issue. I come from a different manufacturer where a car making 600 plus horsepower didnt burn up as much oil as the g35s. But nissan is "working" on a solution weve replaced 2 engines per techline and have advised them that it will not do anything and advised the customer that it will still have the issue. Only to be told by techline that it will take care of the prob and have the car back in 1 month with 500 miles and still burn oil. Maybe one day they will pay a bit more attention to the actual problem and rectify it. But until then we are at their mercy at the dealer on how to go about handling the cars with oil consumption issues.
