Hitting the rev limiter
Hitting the rev limiter
Alright, so, twice in the past, oh, 2 weeks or less, I've hit the rev limiter. First time, I down shifted one to many (2nd instead of 3rd) - I have the 5AT - as I was thinking I was in 5th, not 4th. A second after I got into 2nd, it hit the limiter, bouncing off about 4-5 times before the tranny would up-shift into 3rd (ugg - I HATE, absolutely HATE the 5AT lag!) Tonight, I accidentally hit it (once again, in part thanks to the lag, but also in part due to my own fault) as I was burning out, the tires didn't catch as quickly as I thought they would (hey, it's cold out... but I shoulda known better) and the rev limiter came up a little bit quicker then I was expecting, bounced 3 times before it would go into 2nd gear (tires were still spinning until 2nd gear came up)
Question is, do I need to worry about any possible damage w/ those two incidents, or is the VQ a strong enough engine that in can handle a few bounces every once in a while as long as it's not to often? If I need to worry, what should I look at to find if any damage has been done?
Thanks!
