Rattle? Too Cold?

Hey guys,

These days, when i start up my G35 when she's cold, i get a rattling sound that pulses in intensity, and fades gradually as the car warms up, disappearing within a minute or two. Today was the first day that you could hear it from inside the car with the door shut, but today was the coldest day so far of the year (10 F). If i shut the car off and leave it set for an hour (but the engine does not completely cool) and start it back up, the rattle does not occur, so clearly it's directly related to the engine temp.

This never happened last fall when it was warmer. Should I be taking it in?

hey,
i get the same noise as well. being in chicago now with this freakin cold....i hear it from inside my car seeming to resonate from the front end...inside though. its louder when i start in the coldest mornings. i think its cold related. but coming to 7500 mark. will have it checked at the dealer. take care

Re: i as well

Is it possible that you have ice build up around the exhaust or muffler area? This can happen , causing the rattling sound when you first start up on a cold day. The rattling sound tends to be clearly heard inside the car, but not outside.

Re: Rattle? Too Cold?

It's been under 15 degrees for the last couple weeks here and I am not hearing any noise when starting the car.
