Something I feel I have to share

Don't ask me why but because of pinging issues, I tried decided to give up on Shell V-power and try the chevron with techron.
The engine doesn't ping as bad.

I did an ECU reset and I actually got better mileage. I did not drive any different from before. I still do 1/2 mile drives a few times a day because of my lazy girlfriend .
I usually get 240-255 miles out of 17 gallons and Now I have 296.

Should have done the damn reset ages ago. All that wasted gas...

Just trying to help

Damn an extra 40+ miles just from an ECU reset? How does the ECU play a role here? Can someone explain. And what are the steps for resetting the ECU?

It's the fuel. I tried V-power once and experienced pinging and overall crappy performance. I stick with BP fuels. I usually get about 20mpg in combined driving or about 330-340 miles by the time the fuel light comes on (~16.5 gallons used).

Damnit I hate people like you. :P I only get around 240 miles before the gas light comes on and that's with about 70% highway driving.

Both my G35s ran better on Shell Vpower over Chevron and Exxon.

BP fuels? British Petroleum?

I go with Shell V-Power now. Never had pinging problems with any other brands, car just seems to run better.

does the shell you use dilute with 10% ethanol? that may be where the mpg increase is coming from

You're joking right? Because if you are not, there is something very wrong with your car. 14.5 MPG @ 70% highway indicates serious efficiency issues. Try a new airfilter, check tire pressures, run some fuel system cleaner, replace O2 sensors, spark plugs etc.

I run about 70% highway and I routinely am at 375-400 miles before the light comes on. And no, I'm not joking.
