Strange Rattle at slow speed

Hello,

I tried searching for this, but since it is difficult to try to describe I figured I would try a new post.

I've got a 2003 AT sedan. In the morning I put the car in reverse back out of my driveway then put the car in drive and drive off. Now when I get maybe 50 - 100 feet down the road at approx 10 - 15mph I hear the rattle... it typically lasts for about a second and goes away.

To describe it, it sounds like a gear rattling or being released and lasts for a second or two and goes away. It's a loud metallic rattle that seems to be coming from the front end of the car. It goes away immediately and I typically don't hear the rattle when the car is warm.

Any insight into this would be appreciated, it's quite an annoying noise, not to mention I'm a bit concerned that I may be doing further damage to some component by not addressing it...

Thanks in advance

It sounds like your ABS self-check. Normal.

Hmm abs self-check interesting... haven't heard of that before...

It's a quick rattle... almost sounds like the timing chain rattle.... just really strange to happen at the time it does to be the timing chain....

Quite annoying though but thanks for the response

ABS self check. If you have your foot on the brake pedal when it does it you will feel it pump up. It should do it once each time you start the car the first time you hit 10-15 mph.
