RE: Clamp Group Buy

Let's hear the deal. Most likely I'm in too. At least turn around time should be much quicker than the hoses!

Re: SAMCO Update

I know that Pi-Thons are great hose clamps, and ideal for show cars. A bit $$$ for my car though, so this group buy should be a great thing to get into for those that want them, so kudos for doing this Ted.

I decided to go with MIKALOR clamps from Spain. They're used in many racing applications and are silicon hose safe. They have the sizes to fit the SAMCOs, except for the over-flow tube.

Some FAQ & Other Links Here.

Also information here.

Re: SAMCO Update

I finally got my Mikalor Clamps. Look great, very high quality, and the set cost me less than $30 CDN (~$22 USD). Unfortunately they don't have a clamp to fit the overflow hose, but the overflow hose isn't a high pressure one anyway and looks to be a lower grade generic silicon hose so a regular clamp should suffice.

Re: SAMCO Update

The websites linked above carry them I believe, but I got them from Autobraun, a Canadian distributor that may soon be carrying GroundingGear™ products. If there is much interest, I could enquire re pricing and shipping for a set would be. Doing a quick calculation, it should be about $30-$35 USD for a complete set including shipping. Not sure if you can get them for less though one of the local performance shops if you can find one that carries them.

You'll want two 2325 clamps and four 4043 for the hoses and I'm using standard "worm drive" clamps that Autobraun carries for the overflow.

I flushed my coolant system last night and will be putting in the new Peak Global antifreeze that I've heard great things about.

The Mikalor clamps are really high quality pieces and are simple to install. The inside edge is bevelled so they don't rip up the silicon hoses. Autobraun also distributes SAMCO and recommends these clamps for for all their applications.

Re: SAMCO Update

When tightening the Mikalor clamps, you get the feeling that you can really torque on these things effortlessly. I'd bet you could deform a plastic heater tube, or even a metal one if you really tried! Great hose clamps!

Here's a pic of my new hoses installed. System flushed and hopefully good for the next 5 years without maintenance.
