Spin my tires in 3rd

For my style of driving, my goal is to be able to spin my tires in 3rd at ~4000rpm.

I'm not sure what it takes to get there (new exhaust or TT kit?), so I'm looking for some advice.

What kind of setup would it take to spin my tires in 3rd?

Nitrous, TT, Or Supercharger will get you there. How about some bald tires or spill a bit of oil on the road?

Re: Spin my tires in 3rd

I could drive my '67 VW bus to work first and spin out on the oil slick that streams behind it...

I've been looking at TT and SC setups, but I can't believe it's as easy as shelling out $8K for the engine alone. With the extra power, I expect to need some tranny work, an ECU upgrade, better tires, etc. All said and done, a TT or SC is probably more int he neighborhood of $10K+.

Is that a fair assessment? If so, I'm wondeirng if there is a cheaper route to spinning my tires in 3rd?!?

Actually, if your goal is to spin your tires, you want worse tires, not better tires. Better tires will give you better traction, stick to the ground, and launch the car forward. You want the cheapest all-season non-speed-rated economy passenger tire you can find. Then you might even spin it in 5th with a stock engine.

Yeah, what kind of driving do you do that you would want wheel spin in 3rd gear? Is it to show off? Cause, I can't see what use it would be in real world driving or even in a drag race.

Ummm...When is it ever good to display a loss of traction? I recommend getting two spare tires (possibly off a couple of Sentras, just to be trick), installing them out back, and driving around looking for puddles...

Driving on ICE will let you spin wheels in all 6 gears. Try it you'll like it

I just had a thought.. get two compact spare donuts and put them on your rear wheels. That'll do the trick.

My style of driving is to be able to get enough air over a speedbump to do a complete barrel-roll in the Safeway parking lot.
