Engine Dress Up Begins!!

Did you know that there is actually a guy named Earl, as in Earl's Performance Plumbing? He may have sold the line to Holley, but he still exists...he's really a nice guy too!

What you are looking at is about 9 hoses that have been changed out with Earl's Pro-Lite 350 performance hoses. This is their top of the line stuff. Much lighter than steel braided hoses, and non-abrasive for on aluminum engines! I'm just starting the clean up...just wait and see how far we go!

If you are interested in getting hooked up, contact Joe and let him know that you want what Ted got on his G35!. This is actually "Earls' store" on Hawthorne Bl in Lawndale, CA - off the 405. Don't get confused with the new "fake store" located at the bottom of the 405/hawthorne blvd exit...he's about a mile north of the freeway.

Earl's Performance Plumbing
15827 Hawthorne Blvd, Lawndale, CA 90260

Re: Engine Dress Up Begins!!

what exactly does that do? besides make the engine look nicer. any performance gains at all or anything? this seems pointless IMO. no offense.

Fredz_g35:
Earl's does not install...I just know some folks down there and my dad is a regular at Industrial Liquidators (Earl's real shop). We're still not done with it... these were just the hoses that were easy to get to.

I would guess that these would retail around $150~$200 or so, everything is custom cut and fitted.

Nuttyprof:
Gains? From hoses? Nope! More for increased reliability and definitely for looks. Not unlike changing out your coolant hoses with Samco silicons.

I like braided hose and annodized connectors. Always have, always will. Not as flashy as the steel braid on my other cars, but same (if not better) performance (sorry, reliability)

Cheers, ted

Re: Engine Dress Up Begins!!

I used Thermo-Tec heat shield (lace up). It comes in like a 4' sheet with all the diff color laces. I then used a razor blade to cut the fabric and notch out for the plenum bracket mount and O2 sensor underneath.

DaveO did the same thing, but ordered the heat shield fabric by itself and used metallic tape to attach it.

There is also a "clamp" kit, but our lower O2 sensor will get in the way... you can try it, but the lace up or plain fabric kit is more flexible to our needs.

Cheers, ted
