The "clunk" and "chatter": Reassurance before modding

Well, im now at the point where im now looking for some serious suspension and engine modding.

But before I do that, I need some feedback/comments for reassurance.

1) Tranny chatter. I know its very common, and I guess considered normal. This problem only seems to happen during low rpm's (1000-2000). Its very noticeable when downshifting to a shifting too early from a lower gear, and stepping on the gas while its at low revs. Is it anything I should worry about outside the "normal" circumstances?

2) The Body(?) "Clunk": I'm not exactly sure how common this problem is, but everytime I exit/enter my driveway, or any slope, I hear a clunk (very similar to a loud knock) near the roof/sunroof of my vehicle. Is this something I should worry about?

I've taken my 06 6MT to the dealer, and according to them, tranny chatter at low RMP's is normal.

I have not asked them about the "clunk"/"knock" sound coming from what I believe is the roof though.

Nothing to worry about? Right?

PS. I'm holding off on any engine mods for atleast 2 more weeks, due to the fact that my engine oil was suspiciously low before its 7000 mile oil change. Just monitoring the oil for now.

Im not sure about the chatter, but every 03-04 G i have been in,i have never noticed anything like that including in my car, with stock clutch. The only time that happens when u drive the car for a long time in city traffic, but even then it is very minor.

Well the chatter is not too loud. It only happens when accelerating at low revs on a higher gear than normal. Sometimes its not noticeable at all, and sometimes its noticeable with the windows down.

Is this "chatter" the same as the rear axle TSB that's out there?

the chatter is coming from the front driver side not the rear axle

Henry,

1. You'll notice the tranny chatter evern more once you get an aftermarket clutch flywheel. Like the JWT combo. I just got that recently and man, they chatter like a **** whenever going from a 1-2.5k RPMs lol It's ok though, I'm not really that picky about it.

2. I do get the body clunk whenever entering/exiting a weird driveway. To me it's normal now.

nothing to worry about mod the heck out of it now

if youre getting the chattering and clunking, cant you take it to the dealership to have the tranny replaced

I hope not!

I'll be keeping an eye on my oil consumption for atleast 1k more miles. For now, I guess Ill just do suspension first, and hold off on installing the spacer & mrev2 I just bought .
