It appears that the 3.5 HR might take well to exhaust mods after all. Thread from my350z here. Just for reference, I put down 246 on Sharif's dyno with all my mods and tune.

FYI - the numbers after the mods are on page3.

Wow, pretty nice numbers. Maybe we will see after all that arguing on the one thread about the CAI...

Pretty sweet. Is the exhaust a truely true dual or a fake TD like the Stillen?

Quote: Another side note, we pulled both air filters out of the housings, and there was no additional power gain.

Jeff quoted the fact that with the air filters removed, there was no gain. I think that should end the discussion right there. It's possible that a lower intake charge would yield a little more power, but the stock configuration is going to be a comparatively chilly charge to begin with.

I think Nissan just gutted the CAI aftermarket. I'm sure that larger media, larger diameter tubes, larger MAF housings, larger throttle bodies, and a reworked plenum(remember the new plenum is a single piece unit) to accept the larger throttle bodies would add a bit more power as well, but only when all are done together. But then one would have to twiddle with the ecu. Such a setup would be horrendously expensive. I doubt we're going to see effective, and affordable, aftermarket intake setups for quite a while.

Just from the looks the factory intake system is very good. Did that guy who got the Stillen have it dyno'd yet?

Another thing to notice is the plots themselves. The exhaust only added power way up top, but the test pipes added power along the entire curve.

Damn it. You could have told me that the other night. You're right, I'm not likely to do that and have a car as loud and annoying as your's.

I need coffee, oh wait, you're at work. Was that mean?
