No, I said, "inadvertently run the engine low on oil". But with a true synthetic oil's superior tendency to cling to metal parts, even running out of oil entirely, (as you suggest), would also give the engine a better chance of survival than with a petroleum oil.

But would the difference make a difference? I say no.

Want to address my other posts now?

Then Jeff, you need to really read this article, as documented sources say it very well indeed could make a difference. How much does your engine cost?

Could? Yes. Are the differences enough to save my engine in real life? Probably not. And if the engine is run for that long w/o oil where any differences might be made, would I really want that engine anymore? Probably not.

I have read it. It's also WAY old article and it doesnt really specify anything regarding how much LONGER a motor will last.

In general, any engine will last longer and run, "like new", for a longer period of time. The article and the facts it contains are all valid. If you would like to learn even more about the subject, do an Internet search on the topic. You'll be amazed with all the documentation, test results, etc., there is on this subject. Enjoy.

Longer meaning??????................5 sec, 10 sec, 1 min? See my point?

I'm well versed on the subject of synthetics thanks.

That's way bobistheoilguy is valuable to me. Have YOU gone to THEIR site?

Mobil 1 is very good oil, just not full synthetic, (except Mobil 0w-40). A blend of group III and group IV.

Amsoil, Redline, and Royal Purple are the only true synthetics generally available.

I have faith in the oil nerds on bobistheoilguy cause they live this stuff.

Steve, copy your beginning post over there and read how you get ripped by people who really know this stuff.

Lazer, synthetic oils are my living. I know this field and have for almost 20 years. If that makes me an, "oil nerd", oh well. lol I have seen BITOG and with the disinformation, misinterpreted oil analysis repots, (and in some cases, altered oil analysis reports), I don't bother going there anymore. I know what it's all about.

Mobil 1 is a PAO based synthetic oil. Call Mobil and ask. Communicate. Don't take Internet rumors as the gospel truth.

There is no proof required. Mobil has a good company reputation to uphold and to lie to the public is fraud and Mobil could be heavily fined by the Federal Trade Commission. With all the negative press that would generate, Mobil would be seriously damaged. No executive in their right mind would risk that.

If you think they would, well, that's your opinion, but it sure isn't, "proof".
