Idle "sputtering"

Just wondering if this is common on the G35C.
I''e got 3.5k miles on my '04 G35C 2004 and have noted since the day one that when warm , idling ,A/C off , low idle that a occassional "sputter/pop" can noted , especially if listening at the tail pipe. Now that I have installed a Borla TD the sputter is more noticeable due to the extra Bass. I'm wondering if anyone else has noted this, and if it is common with this model. If not common, I am expecting a MAF or O2 sensor issue, however no MIL code is pushed. I will involve the dealer, just want to be prepared. I would have expected a car of this vintage to idle butter smooth.

Thanx

Re: Idle "sputtering"

If your talking about the very mild occasional hiccup at idle, I think its normal. Grounding kit may help slightly.

Don't add a Hyper-Ground kit to try to cure a problem. Make sure everything is running fine first, as it's effects on an engine that is not running normally to begin with is unpredictable. Just a word of caution.

It's pretty common. My 6MT does that also. I took it in and they said that they couldn't duplicate the prob. Funny, I feel it about ever 15 seconds or so.

Re: Idle "sputtering"

It's a gurgle/occasional pop? If so, that is normal with all dual exhaust systems, and because you added the Borla, and it is now a TRUE dual exhaust, it will be even more noticeable. It is a combination of backpressure, and hearing the different exhaust pules from either side of the engine. Don't worry.
