Nismo Racing Radiator Cap

Just received my Nismo Racing Radiator Cap. There is a warning
on the back of the box:
"This part has been designed and is intended for off-highway
application only. The installation of the part on a vehicle intended
for use on public streets or highways may violate laws and
regulations relating to motor vehicle safety standards or emission
regulations. Additionally, this part is sold "as is", without warranty
of any kind whatsoever, expressed or implied, (including all
warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose).
The installation of this part could also void vehicle or other Nissan
warranty coverage, or result in otherwise covered repairs being
excluded from coverage. Refer to an authorized Nissan dealer
or performance specialist for proper installation."

What the f*&^ is this all about? It is just a radiator cap that is
rated for a higher pressure! I went ahead and installed it,
(without professional help by the way). Of course I can't notice
a difference in my G35. What do you think of this rediculous
warning?

Re: Nismo Racing Radiator Cap

Sounds like a normal disclaimer to cover their a$$es.

Re: Nismo Racing Radiator Cap

They have that written on boxes with headlight bulbs and clear corners. It's a standard disclaimer so the company's that sell it and the companies that manufacture it is not held reliable when push comes to shove with the law.

Re: Nismo Racing Radiator Cap

OK, but this is manufactured and sold by NISMO, Nissans own
division. Why would they put such a disclaimer on their own products.
It seems to me it is like Nissan putting a warning on their own parts!
When I buy windshield wipers at my Nissan dealership, I don't
see a disclaimer. This seems really cheesy. If I take my G35 to
Infiniti for service work and they see I have a Nismo radiator cap,
are they going to say "You car is no longer under warranty because
you put on a Nismo radiator cap." Sheeesh.......... WTF!

Re: Nismo Racing Radiator Cap

Nismo is still aftermarket, even though it's designed for the Nissans.

It's like Mugen parts - it's designed by Honda, but a lot of it is still aftermarket and could run risk with certain laws in certain states. It's just a way to protect the people that manufacture and sell these products - it's a huge liability for shops to do this without those warnings on EVERY single product.

Re: Nismo Racing Radiator Cap

Another option is the radiator cap of a twin turbo 300zx. It's 1.2bar instead of 0.9bar stock. The NISMO cap is 1.3bar so it's just a hair better than the 300zxtt unit, but it's a good deal more expensive.

Re: Nismo Racing Radiator Cap

It allows the radiator fluid to get hotter without causing overheating.

Re: Nismo Racing Radiator Cap

I had both the nismo radiator and oil caps on when I brought my car into the dealer this past weekend. They didn't mention a thing about it (or the grounding kit and z tube).

"Sir, your car is no longer under any warrenty whatsoever
since you put on that Nismo radiator cap." HaHa
