i never had it on the dyno.. i traded it in for an sti last saturday. it snows here and that thing wouldnt move in it..... the spacer was never installed, but it did have the mrev2 on.... it ran pretty strong... i would guess somewhere between 260-270whp if it had an uprev tune

260 should be impressive! For snowy conditions I've got Audi Quattro

Just decided to do an oil analysis on an 06 coupe at 100k miles. My car was high in Sodium believed to be from a coolant leak.

Better hope not...!

I'll report back in 1000 miles, my UOA company is slow but free. Probably circa 1 month for a response. 5W-30 Mobil.

Here is my analysis in plain form:

Oil Analysis attached for the G35.
Wear metals are low with some fuel dilution. Recommend resample to establish a trend.

Details:

· Viscosity – low (normal is closer to 11.0) due to fuel dilution
· SAE Viscosity – same as above - - the oil is close to a SAE 20 than SAE 30.
· Coolant Indicator – this was flagged due to high Sodiu
· Fuel Dilution – 2.2% . I don’t know much about this 3.5L engine but believe it has multi-port injected. Recommend running another test and evaluating miles on the oil sample before getting overly concerned about fuel dilution. How long did the engine run prior to drawing the oil sample? If the engine was not hot, then this might explain the elevated FDIL.
· TBN – 2.8 (not a problem)
· Wear Metals – All were very good.
· Contamination – All low with exception of Sodium. Potential source of sodium:
o Coolant (coolants use sodium and potassium as inhibitors); when coolant is the root cause, we will also see potassium increase which is NOT the case here. Perhaps the coolant type or brand in this engine does not contain potassium.
o The other potential source is road salt, did some debris enter the sample bottle? If this was a bottom drain sample / sample collected as oil flowed out of the pan, then this could explain high sodium.
o General Purpose Cleaner – If the engine was recently washed or somehow a small amount of general purpose cleaner (Simple Green type stuff) go in the oil sample this could explain the high sodium - - not knowing any other information about this engine, this is my bet for root cause……

Thanks

UOA attached. 100k, no OC, Mobil 10W-30. Note 5x normal sodium content. Eek!

I've seen guys on my350 recommending Fuchs oil, and the shop that I go to also recommends fuchs, anyone here try or know of others who've had a good experience with them? (assuming it would probably work just as good on a G as a Z)

I just bought a new Q50S and the dealer told me that due to a change in the valve train that Infiniti DOES NOT recommend Synthetic oil. Anyone heard this? Opinions?

I stopped believing anything a dealer says a long time ago.

Amsoil ATM (Signature Series) 10w-30

I changed labs from my last UOA here (post #48).

Samples 1, 2 are Amsoil ASL 5w-30. Samples 3, 4 are Amsoil ATM 10w-30. Historical trend shows all my wear metals have decreased as the miles click away.

IMO, my particular VQ likes this 10w-30 oil, so will continue using Amsoil ATM formula.
