I love the classic Best Buy Vs. Circuit City arguement. Unfortunately, most people don't realize that you can't put the two against each other, as there are 1000 other factors that play in to it. The most important is the skill level and experiance of the guy working on YOUR car. Even of the best installer in the world works at your local Best Buy there is a chance some newbie who has never worked on a car will be putting in your new deck. Anyway, another thread all together...

If the car shows 12vdc when its in gear how did you wire it to the (-) hood pin input? You would have had to reverse the polarity, and if you used a relay you risk draining the battery if the car is left in gear for an extended period of time (as the drain of the relay coil will eventually kill the battery). I've neve heard of a car that read 12vdc when in gear, but you would almost need some sort of solid state setup that would provide the signal conditioning you need with an accpetable current draw.

Good luck.

shoot sorry im trippin, Since when the hood is closed it rests at zero, so if the hood pin sees a (-) it won't start since it thinks the hood is open. On the 2002- 2003 the neutral safty wire shows a (-) when in gear on the wrx and rest at (+) in neutral.SO pretty much you are tricking the alarm in to thinking the hood is open when the car is in gear. My bad i had the two mixed up. Its been a while since i did a remote start on a wrx. But man sure was a hasle to tap the door locks from inside the drivers door. but overall quite an easy install.

for the clutch you would have to run a relay in order for the remote start to work. 30 and 87 on the relay each goes to one of the two wires on the cluch switch, while 86 goes to the (-) status out put on the alarm, and 85 (+)

Very true there are alot of new installers regardless of where you go to. But every installer has to start some where.I sure know i did. Just really depends on how skilled they are.

Uh oh the Best Buy vs Circuit City debate.... I've been an installer for over 6 years and have worked at both places and have to same alarms are my specialties. I'd say its not the place its the installer and his experience.

Hey Nam which BB are you working at?
