UTEC Owners please come in!! NEED YOUR ADVISE!

My car is in the shop right now having the UTEC installed and I just got a call saying that the UTEC is really hard to mount on the G35's....I have a coupe by the way....My question for those of you who have the UTEC where did you mount it at?? I am trying to give my guy some suggestions...He said he can cut the OEM bracket down to make it work but wont be a clean install....

Anyways if you have done a custom install for the UTEC please post up what you did and if you have pics even better!! Thanks...

I know that the UTEC goes behind the Glovebox...My e-manage I had before just mounted down in the kick panel perfectly....same size and slim enough to just tuck it in there...however the UTEC seems to be larger and more bulkier...Anyways post up what you know!

mine fit sideways right up n the dash behind the gloevbox like mentioned above. i didnt use the stock bracket. it only hangs down a tiny bit and you cant see or kick it unless you looked way under the bottom plastic piece under the glove box

OK, its actually pretty easy once you have done it. Remove the bottom panels, screw the utec to the ECU it will fit a little crooked. and you wont use alot of the stuff that it came with. There is a screw on the firewall that the utec goes into that sticks out to far not allowing you to line up the utec straight. So cut it off. Also look at the wires that are up there now and see which ones you can move out of the way so you can shove the utec up there, just be carefull not to pinch any wires. Now the best way to get it to stay up is to basically find a place to zip tie it up. put the zip ties in the holes that are supposed to be for bolts and zip it up. Once you get it in there tight you are going to have to dremel a cut out of the plastic under panel that covers everything up so that you can put it back on. should still come out a clean install. just make sure they use a GOOD grounding point. Good luck!!!

i think the way the stock ecu is placed in the compartment is diff between the 03-05 and the 06-07. cuz i met a fellow 03 g driver today at function tuned, and he had his utec fitted right next to the stock ecu fine.

Well it does fit fine, just has a little gangsta lean to it. sits flush and everything. But you cant reuse the stock brackets.
