is this a problem?

i was using manual mode and floored it from a red light and shifted a little late, right around redline from 1st to 2nd but right before it shifted i felt a sudden decrease in power but then it came back after i shifted. I later tried it again from a redlight and it didnt happen??? is this a problem???
thanks

you just hit the rev-limiter, you should be fine. Just don't make a habit.

thats what happens, it cuts power.

People say bounce b/c they engage the rev. limiter a couple of times b4 they make a shift, hence bouncing up to rev limiter, back down and back up to rev limiter.

You are fine. Its the rev limiter.

peace

Limiters prevent damage to an engine by interrupting the power that is distributed to the spark plugs, this prevents the engine from operating above a pre-determined RPM level known as the red-line. The RPM level that results with the spark being arrested can be a constant level, or, with the proper ignition control modules, variable. Variable rate ignition modules can be adjusted quickly and easily to achieve the appropriate RPM limit for different situations, such as street racing, drag racing, road course racing, highway driving, and lawn turfing.

Multiple stage ignition modules offer greater RPM limit control. The first stage can be used to limit RPM levels when launching a vehicle from a stationary position, providing maximum power and traction. The second stage is activated after launch to set a higher RPM limit for wide-open-throttle acceleration.

If he didn't hit the limiter, then what he is feeling is the torque management system. In manual mode, if you shift above 6000rpms, you'll feel the slight delay in power just after the shift is performed. If you have an intake, the delay in power is very pronounced. I can't explain that one. If you let the car shift itself on the 1-2, there is no delay.

Take the VDC off and . VDC cuts a lot while its on and on D mode. I dont have any crazy mods but the car is slightly faster than stock. You CAN tell the car slugs with it on and on D, especially after a gear change it feels like you are riding a clutch.

The torque management in the 03/04 cars is far more pronouced than that of the 04.5+ cars. I know exactly what he is talking about and it is not the rev limiter. Hitting the limiter on an 03/04 car will about throw you through the window
