Swapping the 03 g35 engine for a revup one

i was just thinking about random stuff and i thought about swapping out the old engines in the older 2003 G35s for the newer revup g35 engines.

Not worth it. Just spend some money on mods to build up the one you have. The Rev-Up motor doesn't provide a significant enough performance boost to justify the extra expense of the swap. If the Rev Up motor put out like 370 HP... then it might be worth it... but alas, it does not.

I think a mildly used Vortech or even a Stillen would be a better return on your investment. There's significant labor costs associated with swapping a motor and ECU in addition to finding a revup.

If you're an auto, it's questionable if the additional power at redline would help much given it's past the auto's tq lockup.

Swapping in the 3.7L starts becoming more of an improvement although the wiring harness and engine management costs would increase significantly. That also doesn't include the huge cost in finding an already totalled G37 to pull it from.

Alternately, you could just trade for an '05...and it'll be the cleanest install you'd ever see.

revups are 298hp to be exact, according to brochure but slighty less torque. Basically, performance is almost if not the same.

IMO, it wouldn't be too bad for a swap if your non-revups had high mileage, it might be easier to find some revups with lower mileage. Also, rev-ups and it's ECU, ECM or whatever they call it tend to accept mods better. Less likely to run lean on regular bolt ons.

I've seen people pay some pretty stupid $$$ for minimal horsepower gains, but I think an engine swap to gain what, 10rwhp, takes the cake.

If you're going to do na engine swap you make it worth it and throw in something like a big block, or an LSx, or somethign with potential.

You are going to **** about 70% of the people here with Autos. haha. But I also agree. Especially those that MOD their AUTOS to try to go faster. Like turbo or supercharger... WHY?

The potential What I would give to drive a G with an engine from BRE, Any LSx, a 572, or an SRT8.
