M35 / M45 oil filter?
It might be closer to 1", but I haven't looked at a normal sized filter for so long I was just trying to remember correctly. The m45 filter is the same as the one used on older nissan engines though, I use the purolator pure one pl14610 as opposed to the shorter pl14612
M45 purolator v. G35 purolator
Upsized today. I'll check back in with results.
A better oil filter than Mobil 1 or K&N is WIX #51356 it's longer and filters better than any other! Available at most Auto Parts stores nation wide for around $7.00 + or -

Consumption has dropped significantly (especially in the first 1,000 mi after a change) running the M45 K&N filter with a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer.

You aren't going to burn less oil because of a filter, you are just likely going to get slightly better oil analyses at the OCI. More filter area = better filtering of particles.
The larger filter ostensibly lowers system oil pressure. Oil Stabilizer ostensibly raises system oil pressure. This application (a K&N M45 filter with a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer) decreased oil consumption on my 128,000 mi. 2003.5 G35. These 2 elements were the only changes I made to arrive at the drop in consumption. I am not attributing the drop in consumption either single element -- just sharing my results. ✌🏼️
