Humming noise for 1-2 miles

I've done the search and no luck. After a cold start i notice a hum that sounds like a window leak but it only last for 1-2 miles and then its gone for the whole day. this happens everyday. Its annoying. Does any one have the same problem and is there a fix for it?

Hey I had the same problem. The dealership changed the transmission fluid to a lighter one and now the noise is gone. They said if i hear it again, they would give me a new tranny. Try to change the fluid first.

Does it do it only when in gear... or will it still do it if you coast in neutral from 35-40 MPH?

it's been awhile but I believe when it's out of gear coasting at 35-40mph, it doesn't make the noise

here's what it stated on the work order:

"client claims that there is a howling noise coming from the transmission in the morning during the first 10 min driving L4. Road test vehicle and confirmed the complaint. Found trans. noise internally. Complete replacing trans."

I don't have any problems shifting gears, but it does make the whining/humming sound during the first 3 to 5-minute drive in the cold weather. I started hearing this noise after I changed my clutch, which was 2 weeks ago. My warranty is also up.

That sucks for you as I'm pretty sure it's your tranny hummin like that. If you've documented it before the warranty was up you should have a leg to stand on

I am bringing mine into the dealer on Monday night and leaving it overnight so the can hear the noise for themselves in the morning when they start and move it. I will keep you posted on the BS they tell me.

6MT Coupe
Mine does this too, has since new. Kind of sounds like a mild SC whine but it's the gearbox. Mine hasn't gotten any worse and shifting has stayed the same, actually better shifting running Amsoil. But if it does get worse, warranty will handle it.
