Question What Cams to use???

Hay guys, I'm new to this sit. I did a search but didn't come up with a good answer. My question is I want to get cams for my 05 6MT G35. The cams I seen like JWT, Tomie and others all say they have cams for the non revup motor. I have the revup motor and was wondering which cams might be good. The mods on the car now are MREV2 with 1/2 spacer, cold air intake, headers, test pipes, exhaust, and the technosquare reflash. I'm looking for mild cams for just a bit more power nothing wild or anything so if you guys could recomend something it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here's the JWT cam chart, rev ups cams are listed there as well as DE. http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/wol...INCL_REVUP.pdf

Thumbs up

Well going of that chart there only 2 out 9 cams that you can use, the S7R, and
the C8R. However to use C8R's, JWT states that you need they springs also. Since you don't want to do nothing wild I say go with the S7R's.

Hey rookie, good to see you in Turbo Mag.

Rev up cams are 248/248 so the S7s 262.5/262.5 is a good difference.

Thanks man. you got 500 posts!

thanks a lot for the info I know JWT is a reputable comany so I think I'll end up going with the S7's Has anyone out there used them? What did you think a big enough diff to make it worth wild? Would I have to tune the car again or should it be ok without a tune?

You would probably need a tune. Most people doing cams do it while the motors are out for boosting due to the cost of install.

What would happen if I got the springs to run the C8R cams? Would these still be usable when I go turbo I mean would I have to go back to the stock cams and springs or would they be compatible/make more power with the APS twin turbo kit than the stock set up?

Either one will help carry power to redline. On a stock block with an APS TT you should be able to carry most of your power to redline without cams, if you're boosting that high to need cams on a boosted stock block the motor probably won't last long.

so what your saying is that since I'm planing on going turbo but on a internally stock motor it would probably be better not only financialy but also for the motor to go with the S7R cams. Right? These would still be good when I go turbo and would help a bit right now that I'm N/A. Right?

Yeah, cams before turbo, cams after turbo, doesn't matter, you'll be safe either way. As for what cams, JWT Cams are great, I like the GTM cams too! But then again I'm a new loyal GTM customer and love their products, so that's my opinion.

There are some smart, friendly, knowledgeable people at JWT. Call them up and tell them you'd like to talk to tech support about camshafts.

if you want more power from your cams, especially N/A i would get bigger valves and better valvetrain. then your cam will really shine, it can take advantage of the bigger valves, since its going to have longer duration. you'll be bringing more air into the combustion chamber. remmember valves control your air flow, they are restrictive.
