?? I see on my gas tank that it says premium fuel recommended. Has anyone ever tried putting regular fuel in it? Does it make that much of a difference? All I have ever put in my tank is Premium..just curious...thoughts please.

 

For $3-4 a tank difference? I'm sure as sh*t not going to be the one to find out.

I do notice the performance is worse on low grade. But remember, youre driving a performance vehicle, not some cheap thing.

I guess the key word is RECOMMENDED meaning you can fill up on low grade, but your funeral!

 

opinions differ, there has been many threads on this ... for optimal performance yes (IMO)... will the car break down in 100k miles just because you used regular? no ....

I use it, but for me it only gets to be around 20 bucks a months and my car is worth it ... plus it keeps my TB is relativly clean (at least it was when I had my maxima at 130k miles)

 

if you put anything less than Premium, you will be losing performance as well as mileage..... You prob will not hear your engine knock due to sophicticated ecu's that prevent it from knocking/pinging.

Say if premium is 30 cents more(i'm being generous to account for 87 and 89) than other grades of gasoline times 20 gallons, you'll end up paying 6 dollars more at the most for premium, worth it? i think so

 

if the car is a lease then no u dont need premium fuel. But don't post "why did i lose to a 4 cylinder altima/g35s are slow". Now good luck saving that whoping $2 a tank fill up.

 

For 3-4$ more a tank its not that big of a deal just to put premium in each time. Gas prices are so high anyways..what is another 3 or 4 bucks?

 

I've noticed no improvement in fuel economy in my 04 with Premium.

So, whether I use 91 or 87 (or 89) is just how i feel when I go to the station.

But I haven't gone under 87 even in the mountains, and I would use 91 if the car said Premium required.

On the other hand, I don't drive the car hard.

 

I'm pretty sure it does say premium required... or is it just "recommended"?

i like to use 93 octane from sunoco ..

 

the rev-up models (MTs) require premium. The autos recommend premium but its not required. Regardless I still fill up with 93 premium.

 

03 and 04 sednas were designed to used lower grade gasolines.... the manuals for 03/04 compared to 05+ recommends different grades

 

my coupe manual literally reads "recommends 91(research 96)"

 

I did my own MPG comparison and 87 gave worse mileage with 93 octane giving better mileage on my '04 5AT. It was literally a "wash" in the end on the cost per mile, so I went w/ the premium in the end.....it was a no-brainer.
