Alex, MODS for $1,000 please

Hi fellow Coupe owners. In about two weeks I've allocated about $1,000 to buy mods for my car. You can see what I already have in my signature below.

My question is, if you had $1000 to spend, what would you buy (this can be single items or the most items for the buck). Please be serious because I trust your judgement.

2 G or NOT 2 G, there is no question!

'04 Coupe 6MT: DG on BLK, Prem, Sport, Nav, Custom Tint, K&N Intake/Filter, Gordgee's Grounding Gear SOON!

Kinetix or Crawford Plenum: ~$400 for each (crawford requires return of stock plenum though)

Switch out stock paper speakers. 6 new ones will run ~$350-$500.

Clear corners: ~$50-$55

What do you mean by 'paper speakers'? I have the Bose package.

bose speakers = paper cones, paper doesn't mean its bad. Its just very fragile.

I would get Koni adjustable shocks, springs, and Hotchkiss sways.

Re: Alex, MODS for $1,000 please

hey Randy,
I looked at all-barks dynos before and after. He had some other mods with his baseline which was around 253 rwhp and 247 torque. With the plenum, he was at 266 and 258 torque. I consider those to be very good gains especially since he had other mods at the same time. The difference between stock and either the kinetix or crawford on a car with fewer or no mods would be more dramatic IMO.

Paper cones are OK if they don't get wet. The speakers in the G, at least in the doors, get wet.

Re: Alex, MODS for $1,000 please

Randy_G,
The dyno you were looking at was comparing the GREAT gains of the Crawford to the GREAT gains of the Kintex. They were both equal and both gained quite a bit of hp/torque for under $500.00

2004 Infiniti G35C-6MT
LR | Willow | Premium | Aero | Splash | BSM
30% Lumar Tint | Invinca Shield (C-Bra)
Z-Tube | JWT Pop Charger | RT Cats
JIC Y-Pipe & Crawford Plenum (on order)

Randy, since you have intake already why don't you get exhaust?? This might suck up that $1000 all at once though.

04 G35 6MT Coupe
35% Madico smoke tint
CF Hood
Injen Cat-back

Re: Alex, MODS for $1,000 please

If you're looking for an exhaust the Borla would be a great buy as far as power gains go and still leave about $250-300 for other mods too....

Hey Randy,
IMO you should get high flow cats ($400-$600) and a plenum. Should help ur motor breath better (+hp).

Re: Alex, MODS for $1,000 please

Rever, Kinetix (sp) has a package right now that includes their plenum and CATs for $700 and change...good sugg. BTW, what time do you get off of work today and which way are you coming from. Maybe we can hook up on the 405? I enter the 405S at La Cienega.
