stranded on the hwy-alternator belt snapped off
so I knew something was wrong when all weekend everytime I'd turn the radio/ac on my vdc would cut off and eventually the throttle mid motion. Brokedown called in for a jump only to find out the alternator belt had snapped off so here I am on the side of the hwy waiting to be towed.
Firstly is the alternator belt covered under warrenty, secondly how does the throttle cut out mid motion its bizarre and dangerous when its happened four times this weekend?

nope no light up until today, however I think it only just snapped today, but has been acting retarded all week. Tomorrow is going to be a fun day at the dealership I'm sure!
When your certified technican changes the oil every 90 days, part of his responsibility is to look for worn belts and recommend their change. To protect the owner from themself!
We typically change belts every 30k or 2 years depending on miles and local conditions.
Just like replacing battery, tires, brakes things that wear every 3 years so you don't allow yourself to be standed on the highway and require a flatbed.

the dealership said the pulley seized on my alternator and replaced the pulley and belt...the same belt controls the power steering...I was turning when the belt snapped..the steering locked up and the brake and battery light came on...$50 for the belt 100 labor!!!! f__in thief's!!!!

That price seems very reasonable considering the cost of both a pulley and belt. Labor was a standard 1-1.5 hours probably.

The idler pulleys and bearing in pulleys just don't seize up without warning. These pulley begin to make noise which gets louder and louder and louder.
Failure to be sensitive or take it into a shop which is sensitive results in just what happened to you!
Common problem will happen eventually to all cars if pulleys are nor replaced when they become noisey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Historical data on dealing with multi- thousands of Infiniti units since 1989.
Obviously the mechanic didn't test the pullies [spin and listen] when the old belt was off..........I would have called him a technican but he proved he wasn't.

STATUS UPDATE:
(1) So there was a hole in my lower splash cover about the size of football and they tried to tell me that something came up and ripped my alternator belt, i told him that was ridiculous since everytime it broke down of course i opened the hood to check it out.
(2) They replaced it under warranty but after i got home i noticed they had completely removed my splash cover altogether and quoted me on it under an additional quote.
(3) They also told me my oil pan was bent and there was fresh paint on it, i hit a curb in the ice back in December and took it to THEIR bodyshop to fixed, no mention of the oil pan being bent then, and they are the only shop to do body work on it, seems fishy.
(4) Sway bar bushings brackets, bar bushings, bar link, are these covered under warranty i've had the car for little over a year and done about 58k miles, i did purchase the additional service plan/extended warranty?
(5) Front lower crossmember needs replacing prob due to the earlier mentioned incident however at the time i was told something that holds the radiator was damaged but it was not critical, does'nt the crossmember hold the entire engine up??
