ask him what blinker fluid he recommends... he'll probably have to look it up.

On a side note – quite a while back I took my car in to have TPS looked at… I told them I thought the right rear had failed… the service writer looked at the 235/50/17s I had mounted in place of the 225/55/17 and said that could be the problem I stated that the tire size is virtually identical and that the tires had been on for several thousand miles so they are not the cause.

Then the service tech said the pressure could be low because of weather changes – I explained that I check when cold and they are fine – the light comes on after driving the car for 20 miles or so – which means the tire/air is hotter and expands so the pressure would go up not down – so how could the sensor go off from low tire pressure when the pressure goes up after tires warm up?

After several trips back and forth low and behold, the right rear TPS was bad (as I originally had told them) and it was replaced.

Anyway – take what they say with a grain of salt… sometimes they have ulterior motives, sometimes they are full of ****. However, if you get lucky, sometimes they are actually good and helpful!

I think the main reason they recommend not using synthetic oil is that when someone runs a synthetic oil, it is intended to be run for a longer period of time. For example, with a regular non synthetic oil, you could run the oil say max 4 months or 4k miles, however, with a good synthetic, you can push over 7.5k or 1yr.

Also, engines use oil, and if you're like the typical user that knows jack **** about maintenance, then you could leave that oil in there so long that the level will drop too low, etc.. in a sense, they're trying to cover their own *****.

my dealer puts in castrol semi synth on oil changes, but they also use 10w30 which flys in the face of the recomended 5w30

They only reason they get to pick is because I am on an oil consumption test. when thats done it's my call

i'm going to be running amsoil as soon as it comes in. highly recommended by my friends. most stealerships are pushing their own products and charge you more to make as much $$$ as possible. when doing a recall on my old truck the stealership mechanic broke the O2 sensor causing me to have to wait for them to get another from another stealership. pissed me off. they were willing to drive to my house but not back when the truck was ready. when they finally installed the new one back they were trying to give me the run around saving that the comp had to be reprogrammed. bullsh*t the truck sat there for 30 min in the air with no one around until they lowered it and brought it out. i've done O2 sensor replacement and know how simple it is.

My Infiniti Dealer does synthetic. They sell it and use it on any vehicle they sell on request from the owner.

my dealership tried to tell me this is why my engine was burning so much oil, its the easy excuse they can use to explain why so many nissan engines are burning oil.

Two dealerships told me the same thing - that the oil consumption is higher with synthetic.

in the winter when it's to cold for me to do my own oil changes, I bring it to the dealership. They ASK me if I'd like to use Synthetic, I always use it.

I used to take a 5 bottles of Mobil 1 synthetic to my dealer for them to use on the oil change. They never said anything to me about not using synthetic. Not that I would listen to them anyway.

many dealers offer synth for an additional fee... When I've had them do oil changes I always take synth... The dealers that are telling people that it is the reason for the oil consumption problems are tards and I wouldn’t suggest using them for service.
