Need advice on clutch issue

hey guys in the past two days i have had problems with my clutch pedal. it seems like it has become stiff. it is harder to push the clutch in. so i went to a local repair shop to get an oil change and i had them look at it. they said it was nothing external and that they will have to pull down the transmission just to see that the problem is. they told me it would cost 768.00 dollars just to pull down the transmission and once they find something there will be charge to fix or replace it. i have never had a clutch issue or any type of clutch work done so i am not sure if this is right. maybe you guys can give me some advice on how i should handle this. my car is an 03 with 55,456 miles so i dont believe i have any warranty left. any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

if your clutch feels heavy and requires more pressure to press down to engage, then you probably have to replace the clutch/flywheel. the symptoms you have describe happens a lot when the clutch is worn out.

are you the original owner of the car? have you been grinding?

I would take it to the dealer since they should have more experience with it than anyone else.

Also, check your fluid colour, and if it is dirty or the wrong colour, change it. Mine is urine yellow and translucent.

I am changing mine by bleeding it once a year.
