Block Stamping / Identification

O.k. lets not start the thread bashing yet.

I have searched, but there seems to be no answer.

I am wondering if there is a physical way to identify a rev-up to a non rev-up? (without disassembly) Is there a diffreence in the block? Is there a stamp on the block for manufacturing reasons? if there is, where is it?

I know my car has a non rev-up because its an 04, but i would still like to know the answer to the question. Thanks for the help!!!

Just look at the cam gear covers, they look totally different. Look at your motor, then look at this one (I know its not the greatest pic, sry)

Non Rev Up

See the Diff?

Okay, i found the stamp on the block. 921430AVQ35. What is that? Is that revup or non? How can i tell if this is the block that came with my car?

I pulled the maintenece report for my car from infiniti to see how it was taken care of in the past by the previous owner. It says that the car was turbo charged and had severe engine failure. So, here i am trying to figure out if anything was done to fix this before i purchased the G. It runs fine. In fact it seems stronger than any 04 model i have driven. Nice and strong. Just need some answers. Thanks for the help.

The timing cover DOES give it away.

First pic is a rev-up, second pic is a NON rev-up.

Yes and no, I'm pretty sure the blocks are interchangable. Its the HR's that are different. But I doubt they would put a revup timing cover in an 04 because the variable exhaust stuff would have no way of working.

I think GForce meant, if for any weird reason the timing cover doesn't tell you, you can check the stamp on the block.

I would stay away from a car that has had engine failure, you never know. That is, unless you plan on redoing everything anyways...

And that FX engine bay is like wow.

Thanks for all the help.
I just recently got to drive a fellow g35driver members bone stock G. This is the first G i have driven other than mine. There is a huge power diffrence between his 03 w/ 14k and my 04 w/ 71k. Clutch and all. I am just in desperate search of answers without tearing down the motor to see what is inside.
