Most definitely - it's manageable and I can't believe your asking this.

Question Given OC Issue: Would you still recommend buying an '05/'06 MT Coupe?

First off: New to the forum. I did search for some sage advice from folks on the OC issue (did about 35 of 71 pages on the "check your oil" thread.) But I haven't seen a thread dedicated to "hindsight", i.e. would you do it again?

I have to admit, I'm a bit devastated by finding the thread listed above. I'm an ex-350z owner, looking to replace with a G35 (05) coupe, MT (I have 2 ankle biters now and need to have car seats...)

I was sold on getting this model with the increase in HP, and now I'm scared s-less one buying one used.

I'd be curious to hear from the folks that are most in tune with this issue.

Would you buy and '05/'06 MT Coupe knowing this issue was floating around?

Bonus question for people who feel motivated to share their opinion:
What is the best 4 seater I can buy under $25K that has low end torque, RWD, MT is a must? (I realize I'm open to flaming due to dual topics. Be gentle as my entire ego is based on this post.)
Food for thought:
'04/05 BMW 330i - would have to go high mileage to meet my price point
'05/06 RX-8 - I know, low HP, low torque, but I Auto-X and it kicks butt in this context
VERY used S4 - a pig in terms of weight, as I'm probably looking at the old TT
Ancient M3 - can't even find any in my price point
1993 Accord - back-up to have a POC car and save for the G37 market to evolve

Thanks for your input... even if it involves gasoline...

This has been asked plenty of times...

Do some research. You will have warranty just in case although many members say it is a true PITA.

It's basically up to you.
Do you mind checking your oil once a week?
Do you have a dealership near you that you can go to for OC testing?
Can you live with the dealer replacing your engine for a week or two?

It's a hit or miss with the Rev-Up's.

Thanks for the reply. I will try some other search terms to find some of the threads you speak of... And good points on the pain threshold.

Some people act as if all revups will have the oil consumption issue. If that's enough to make a potential buyer get an 03/04 over an 05-07, then that's a bit sad.

Oil consumption is definately an issue that has affected many revups. But the majority of revup owners will not have a serious issue of oil consumption. I'm sure a few of those who claim they have OC issues are going through normal consumption and are just paranoid.

IF there's any OC issues, then that's what the Warranty is for
