2nd gear

i've been having problems when putting my car into 2nd. i usually shift between 2000 and 2500 which is low i think. even when the clutch is fully in and i try to put it into 2nd it grinds in. also when im drifting at maybe 10 mph and just want to put it in 2nd itll grind in then too. is this normal, or is there any way to fix it? thanks!

at 2000-2500 rpm, i haven't even moved my foot from the floorboard onto the clutch yet

shift at 4000-5000, it's a lot more fun without going to the redline all day

sounds like your synchro's are shot. what year/mileage does the car have? it might still be covered under the powertrain warranty. if u got the car very recently... i would go back to the used dealership and tell them they sold u a car with a shot tranny. u'll be paying for lots of labour if it's not under warranty.

its 04 with about 45000 miles. they said that i have a 30 day warranty or some crap. but the guy was trying to say it was my fault that the gears were grinding? it's definitely the car if the clutch is to the floor and it still grinds. how much do synchros run? probably a lot cheaper than a new tranny

you're powertrain warranty should still be good, go to an infiniti dealership

i got just my tranny replaced for free because my 6th was grinding... plus they gave me a new clutch and flywheel! all for free.

Its a 2004 with 45000 miles. I bought it like 3 weeks ago from some used car dealer. I'm taking it to them on saturday but if they don't do anything about it I'm gonna take it to infiniti. Unless it possible to get it replaced from infiniti for free if the powertrain warranty is still good? Help!!

power train warranty is up 70000 miles and i don't think u being the 2nd or 3rd owner should matter. U should go to the dealership and tell the about ur issue and DEMAND them to fix the problem under powertrain warranty.

To answer ur original question: No it is not normal for the car to do that.

Good Luck.

I called infinit about the standard warranty which is 4 years 60000 miles. Since my car was purchased in september 03 the warranty is no longer valid. I mentioned the powertrain warranty but I don't think my car is under that? Not all cars are under powertrain or no? So I'm taking it to the used car dealer saturday. And I would think they should have to fix it? Its been less than a month. If that doesn't work then ill take it to infiniti but they said its 210 to just look at it! And a lot of forums I've been reading with people having the same problem, when they took it to infiniti they didn't find a problem!!
