Problem - 2003 G35 - Please Help
Wow, g35at
I'm getting practically the same thing. I've got approx 90k on my 03.5 5AT sedan as well. I'm recently, ~2000 miles, getting that odd engine noise @idle - metal ticking - and I'm thinking it's the valves. Performance is odd lately as well. At the same time, my fuel damper is shot and I've got to replace that as well, but these are not the same noises. I can have the engine on and stand in front of the car and hear that metal tick. Annoying! I want to know what it is and if it is inexpensive to fix.
Also, the acceleration doesn't feel as strong as it used to. I mean I understand and can feel the effects/differences of warm/hot weather and cold weather...but damn, lately it's just weak. We're getting cool and cold weather at night and it does feel good BUT again not like it used to. Standing on the gas from a stop doesn't give me that instant jump that it used to. It just bums me out. I plan on holding onto this car until it dies generally and don't want to see that it cant accel like it used to.
I just wish I didn't have as many problems with this car so that I can enjoy it more than I do currently.

But if your car has 90k miles on it, i wouldn't stress TOO much about small noises.. my car has 83k miles on it now, and i have no small noises. But understandable with a car with over 80k and 5 years of service..
I would make sure you have oil in it though.. lol.

The only servicing I did to my G was fluids.
I kind of take back some of my statement. Today, the car feels really great actually. The sounds are still there but the throttle and tranny response are really good and the engine is flowing with torquey power.
I guess it might be because yesterday I finally got the Idle Position procedure down correctly. I'm getting a perfect 600rpm idle w/ no a/c and the car doesn't want to die on warm start ups. I dunno if that affected it but the cars power and response feel great.
