Notebook scanner tool??

I know there are various code readers/scanners out there.
but..
Anyone know of a scanner interface to a notebook?
It would be great to hook up the notebook to log data for analysis.

I have one. I haven't really put it to use yet. I plugged it in, and I was getting readings, but I have not explored its' full potential yet...

Re: Notebook scanner tool??

I just picked the Autotap USB model and it does work with the G35. What you'll be able to do with it, I don't know yet. I was just happy it worked and allows me to read DTC codes. Most DTC scanners will not work with the CAN network on the Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.

So far it's only the basic information is read and displayed but it's only a matter of time before enhanced parameters are available.
I primarly got the Autotap to tune and analyse my GM vehicles, so the fact it can read the G35's info, is a bonus, to me.

Another quality scan tool is AutoEnginuity, it was also on my short list but I went with Autotap for the reason that they have been around longer. Autotap has more GM tuning options and both were about the same price.

I picked up my Autotap from T Bryrne Motorsports as they had the best price and service.

I did do a extensive search for OBD II scanners and found that basically there all the same but some displayed more basic parameters than others, customer support is varied and not all worked on all vehicles, which was BIG for me.

Re: Notebook scanner tool??

I just ordered the PC based scanner from
LINK for $122 (hardware & software included)
I'll write up a review after I get it.

Re: Notebook scanner tool??

I also recommend autotap. And I also bought it through tbyrne. You could use it for logging, checking codes...clearing codes, etc.
