So i was driving out of the office today, and its raining pretty bad. i was driving about 5-10MPH and i hit this water channel thing that leads to the sewer line. water splashed and i heard a screeth noise, like if someone hit the breaks. since i have the heater on, it then started to smell like burned rubber... .

What could have happened? anything i should look for? possible damage?

car drives fine.

I believe the sound you heard was your belts. The smell is related as well. I've read about it a few times on these forums. If you haven't had the issue again since the rain incident. Then I wouldn't worry, but if it start to squeal again, I would have a look at your pulley's and belts. I say pulleys as well, because I just noticed that one of my pulleys is missing the nut that holds it in. Basically the belt is holding my Tensioner pulley Nissan in my area doesn't stock the nut, so I'll be picking it up tomorrow. FKN scary. I'm surprised I haven't thrown the pulley yet.

 

thanks! so its possible water got in? and messed with the belt? made it slip probably? thats really weird. well i havent heard anything ever since the last incident so i hope it was just a one time deal. too bad we have another major storm coming in tonight, tomorrow morning.
