Re: Best bang for the buck mod?

Some things should fit, some might not. Exhausts and intakes, for example, may be routed differently for each car. BTW, the VQ35 engine is found in the Altima 3.5SE, Maxima, G35 Sedan, G35 Coupe, FX35, I35, and 350Z. It makes anywhere from 240 to 287hp in various stock forms.

You got to remember FWD and RWD have totally different engine layouts.

Well, yeah, there's that whole transverse-mounting thing. Bummer for the FWD's.

Re: Best bang for the buck mod?

The best way to tell how popular a new car is accepted by the public is to take a trip to your local toy store or hobby shop and hunt for the vehicle you are interested in. So far I have not seen one 2003 G35 (c or s or Skyline) replica for sale (In the USA). Seen the 350Zs out which shows its popularity with the "American" public. It is very true that the 350Z has more 3rd party mods than the G35S or G35C due to name notariety. It is called supply and demand. Another aspect of popularity is that Nissan has the racing name, not Infinity. I see most of the 3rd party mods going to the G35C first and then the G35S. I hope some decent mods come out soon.

Tires, good ones. You will stick more, sticking more
= zippier .
= handles better.
= brakes better.

Then, you can always shave some wieght, spare, tools, some wieght off your body etc

Wrap your intake like this
It may look ugly but looks can be deceiving =)

Re: $15

Keeps the intake from heating up..

I did a few tests and was able to keep the intake around 90 deg.. with the wrap.. It was about 120 without the wrap..

The colder you can keep the incomming air the better hense all the cold air intakes out on the market..

I've only tested it on 2 cars and can tell you this though on 1 car we dynoed once we pulled the wrap it lost 7hp however we did not re-add it on to see if there was an actual gain =(
I would almost bet there was..

Re: $15

Looks like insulation wrap, pesti. Foil backed with a glass fiber mat or other insulating material. You should be able to get some at your local home improvement store. It's used for insulating duct work, water heaters, etc.

Re: $15

Hey bro, here's a pic of the insulation wrap the guys are talking about. I've done this too b4 but not done a dyno on the results. But as GodZilla implies: as you reduce the intake air temp, you raise H/P . I've read that for every 10 degrees reduction in temp you raise H/P by 1%! .........Substantial....
There's 2 wraps I have here: one is the regular foil coated fiberglass insulation which I like and is common and cheap, and the other is foil wrapped sticky foam. A cheap trick for a few ponies............
