check engine light came on after doing a ipod integration. Could this be because I had the battery connected? The code is P0603.

question #1, was anything spliced into the factory wiring, could have a short to ground on the power wire if you just probed for power or whatever, it would be a r/w wire coming from a fuseable link on the IPDM/ER, going to one connector then to the ECM, if all your connections are good it is possible yes it could be a fluke clear the code then check for first trip DTC's there are only a couple possible causes for this code which is a loose connector, short or open, or the ECM is faulty.
