engine replacement issues.. I NEED HELP!!!
Dealers are totally independent of Nissan except they have warranty reimbursement contract with Nissan. Nissan sets the hours they will pay for each job and the dealership is free to charge any rate for any number of hours it wishes to charge the general public.
Nissan gets an hourly discount not in dollars but in hours, so dealers can say Nissan pays the same hourly rate in dollars as the general public.
Does not your business provide a discount to its largest repeat customer who has work done and paid for every day of the week................whereas the individual owner is not seen but once every 90 days at best.
It is amazing that so few understand the finances of dealerships, no wonder they have problems in dealing with them.
The service department was created to solely sell replacement parts. If a dealer could they would not have a repair department just a parts department.

ok so i goto dealership yesterday and they look at the car.. im at 1400 miles.. and they say that the level is within standards.. but its at 11mm and i took pix too prove it.. i make them bring in the tech that looked at my car and they bring him in.. i ask him what the level was and he pulls out his pen points from one end to another and he says this much... i asked him how many mm it was and he says IDK but its within standards i tell him i have pix of my dipstick next to a measuring tape and he shuts up and the service desk guy starts saying it doesnt matter because i dont have any receipts i tell him i dont need them and he basically tells me its up to him and he says NO!!!
what do i do next?
what do i do next?
i pretty much had the same thing happen when i inquired to my local infiniti dealer and i bought my car since new. let me say i wasn't getting very far.
my car consumes about 1qt, every 2-3,000 miles which isn't bad. i guess you could do a couple things. someone here actually suggested this to me: 1.you could try a different dealer and bring some organized "printouts" of receipts from your "friends" garage which includes all the details of your car and see how that goes. 2. if your car isn't consuming a ton of oil you could switch back to cheaper conventional castrol GTX (which is still highly rated) and just keep topping it off. 3. you can go up slightly in viscosity to say 5W-40, 10W-30 or 10W-40 and see how consumption is affected. 4.replace your sparkplugs early and inspect your valve cover to make sure you don't have any oiling problems stemming from there.
even if you get the replacement motor chances are you will run into something else that goes wrong like the same or worse oil consumption, worse gas mileage, poor workmanship. if it's only a little oil it's no big deal. good luck.

Not the best test but one easy way to check for sludge is to unscrew the oil filler cap and peer inside the tube. You don't get a great view but if it's all dark brown color (varished) and not a clean aluminum color, that is a sign that the oil wasn't changed enough. The cam would be a clean aluminum color but you should be able to see past the cam and down to the head surface.
Since it looks like you only had the car for about 2-3 oil changes, that's not enough to clean it out if it's been neglected all it's life.
