2004 sedan valve cover leak
2004 sedan valve cover leak
My wife and I noticed an oil smell under the hood after parking it. Luckily I am under warranty. All I could find was some residue at the oil dipstick, at the funnel/thing to feed the dipstick in up high.
Dealer is replacing the entire valve cover, they believe it was not very flat.
Just wondering if anyone else had this experience and if you have any advice on things to watch for on this repair.
Thanks for any help,
Mark

No problem with that for me, but there's a common issue with the leaky valve cover which sits near the spark plugs. This is often found by pulling the #6 spark plug tube and inspecting the end of the tube. If there is oil at the end of the tube, that is an indication of a faulty valve cover. Here's the thread below for an ongoing discussion:

Luckily I and a few others have been able to get this fixed under the powertrain warranty, and this seems to affect the 03-06 sedans and coupes.
