K&N hp-1006 oil filter - can I use it on my G35

Hey guys,

I ended up buying 4 K&N hp-1006 oil filters. According to the K&N site, the recommended oil filter is 1008. I'm not sure how I screwed this one up, but I did. I think I remember reading that the 1008 is just an oversized 1006 - it certainly screwed onto my oil tank okay (ie. no leaking).

Is there any harm in me using this 1006 filter on my car?

Thanks in advance.

If that 1008 fits the VQ35 powered maxima, you're probably okay. I use the Napa Gold filter that's spec'd for the maxima because it's a tad larger.

Looks like it's meant for Kia/Mazda 626/Ford Probe. 1008 is the right one. Maybe you can make a trade?

Not sure what to tell you on that besides if it were me, I wouldn't let 10 bucks stand in the way of putting the right filter on my car.

I use the largest filter that will fit my G. In my case I have found that the filters fitting the Nissan V8s, Titan and Armada have the same base plate as the Nissan/Infiniti 3.5L V6s. They have a larger capicity and cause no interference with anything under the engine. The thimble under the G just barely qualifies as a filter IMHO. Bigger is BETTER!!!

I use the 110's on my car because they are larger. They are listed for the FX. I believe the 106 is smaller. If so, stay away from those.

I use the Titan filter too because it is bigger. I do not know why it is better, I just know it is recommended.

To the OP, if it fits the VQ (and is the same size, or bigger) a filter is a filter, no? I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I bit more filter area to have before it gets clogged up. we are probably not even coming close to that anyway but that's the common reason.

+1

More area to filter and more volume to keep it clean. Maybe just for peace of mind but that's my $0.02.

I always use the HP-1010. Same fitment as the HP-1008 but about 30% more capacity. It's what the M45 uses.
