Intake Dynos
Intake Dynos
With all the talk of CAI intakes or going with z-tube and K&N filter, or popcharger - does anyone have any intake mods, and dyno-ed theyre cars to see what the actuall gain in hp have been. There are rumors as to which ones do what and some people have actually said they lose hp. Does anyone have Dyno proof of actual happenings with just an intake mod?

Re: Intake Dynos
Problem is CAI and cones make minimal changes in and by themselves because there is so little restriction from oem air filtration system..
Well winthin the repeatability error of dynos. Just because a dyno shows +3-4 HP doesn't mean it's real or not caused by tire /oil/cylinder head temp changes or an error in MAF resolution [reporting value].
If you reverse the proceedure: remove CAI and reinstall oem you are just as likely to see power gains on dyno!
Just that the factory oem is so good compared to older mid 90's designs.
People whose living depends on selling CAI/filters will turn the world upside down to find some dubious tainted evidence that their product works.........so would you if it feeds your family.
Dynos don't duplicate the real world because impossible to duplicate road load [the drum is too small and places abnormal load [deflection on tire] and wind resistance variations and injested temperature EXACTLY.......they just use a correction factor. Close but not perfect -- far from it.
If you gotta have one just pick the sound you like.
