Yeah... just tap an always on positive wire instead of a switched wire.

Can you give any more of an explanation? I am definitely no engineer.

Re: Power outlet mod?

That means you want to tap a 12V power cable in the car that's always on and not switched by power. Which mean......

Actually I also have no idea where to find this always on 12V power source near the center console or how to tap a power cable..... (Is it anything similar to the corner signal light mod? Because that I can do)

Re: Power outlet mod?

An easy way is to use a fuse tap adapter (not sure of the term) in the fuse box. Just locate an always 'hot' terminal and plug it in, attaching your wire lead from the outlet to it.

Re: Power outlet mod?

I'm pretty sure that any "Yellow" wire you will see is always hot. So when you are behind the adapter wires, look into the other wire looms and see if there is a yellow wire in them. You can then just tap into that. However, I suggest you research this a lot more if you are not familiar with car electronics. This is very dangerous what you are attempting.

That is absolutely incorrect. Car manufacturers have NO standard to what color does what ever. The only way to tell if a wire is hot is by measuring it, and even then it may not actually be a hot wire (for instance most turn signal wires will read 12 volts until you turn the turn signal on, then it pulses).

The best place to get the 12vdc constant wire is either at the battery, or in the main harness that runs to the key switch. This wire should be a white/blue wire, and should have a 40 amp fuse on it. Remember though, that the car will probably draw around 20 amps, so make sure you don't add more then 15 amps to this wire or you might have fuse issues. For high current loads go directly to the battery and remember to place a fuse within 18" of the battery.
