sea foam does a little cleaning. Mmo is better in the oil. In the gas again little cleaning. a PEA product. like redline si1 is better. in the vaccume line I am not sure what it does.

sounds about right.

u dont have be eactly on the dot with the measurements. my TL seemed to breathe alot better after the giant blinding smoke cloud blew out. i did another TL n it did the same thing. my bros 03 accord barely had smoke coming out.

never did my G

yes thats what it says. ive seabombed a few cars....pour the 1/3 into a seperate bottle put a tiny vac line into it and put that into the booster line or a nipple coming directly off the manifold. keep the revs up to around 2k rpm or else it might choke down....then it'll bellow out smoke for atleast 15 min. lol

I did 1/2 in the tank and the rest via the brake booster line. I didn't put any in my oil.... not sure it's the best thing to do given what I've read. I did it in the evening and drove to the store afterwards to clean out the smoke. I do it every 10-15K miles (so I've done it about 5 times on the G and >10 times on my old Volvo).

You didn't raise this issue but have you considered also cleaning your throttle body. I've done this 2X. Does anyone know if it will do any harm to clean it w/o removing it completely, i.e., can it be cleaned while still attached or will the cleaner harm the plenum or anything in there? I'm still learning.

How did you go about cleaning the tb?

First I disconnect the air intake hose (the entire assembly from the filter housing to the throttle body) and then squirted BG throttle body cleaner into the throttle body itself. After a few light squirts in one area, I took a microfiber towel and gently cleaned the valve and internal housing surrounding the valve itself. This process was repeated several times until the whole thing looked clean. The color changed from a gummy lite brown to silver colored. Small hands means I can get in fairly deeply behind the valve.

Am I doing this right??

Yep!!! It was a preventive measure. The TB wasn't sticking... yet. So, is the process being used correct? Can I do the cleaning this way w/o harming anything deeper inside? I imagine not if I'm running SeaFoam thru the plenum via a vacuum line.


Hhhhmmmm... Tian do you know the answer or are we just having a friendly conversation?

Your better off putting the cleaner on the microfiber towel and then rubbing lightly in the throttle body. Had excellent results and now my car doesnt need gas to fire it up!

Also used seafoam over Turkey day. Poured 3/4 in Oil and rest in gas tank. I had so much carbon buildup from the car sitting on deployment it actually gunked it up and made my car shutoff. One bottle of this and it runs like a champ again. Never did the brake booster line though.

I've used it on my old motor. I expected more smoke, but it seemed like it worked. No noticeable difference in driving though.

I havnt used it on the G cause i bought it 6 months ago with 24k miles but before the G i had a 1999 Eclipse and i used it 3 times in the 2yrs i had it.

it definitely does work...i used 1/3 of it in the gas tank a few days before my oil change...1/3 in oil 500 miles before the oil change and then in the brake booster line(i used the eclipse pcv hose on the valve cover of the eclipse) while revving the engine slightly..you can have someone inside the car or rev it yourself from under the hood..

and it def did some cleaning and my car had 120k+ miles. car ran great.(just do it before your neighbors wake up or they might call 911 due to the cloud of smoke. haha

(leave it off for the recommended time..i left mine for 20 mins or so and then turn it on..will have to pump the gas a bit to get it started but it will start. rev a bit to let some of the smoke out then drive it a bit hard around for 2-5 miles then do an oil change IMMEDIATELY!do not put it in the brake booster line or any vacuum line if your not going to change the oil that day)

I'm getting a rough idle. I cleaned the MAF and filter. Car hasn't turned off since them like it did that one time on 95. I need an oil change and figured I'd try this. If it still idles rough then I'm checking the injectors and coil packs. I dunno. I've always had a very low idle but it never was rough until recently.
