Rod,

What will the time frame be between your pre and post Crawford Plenum dyno sessions? IMO it takes a little running time for the ECM and front cylinder spark plugs to adjust to the equalized air flow.

Re: kinex vs crawford

Hold your horses with the kinetix plenum not cracking anymore comments. The V4 just started shipping so how can you say that they won't crack anymore. I am getting mine delivered next Tuesday. I'll post my experience with the product after having it at least a month. Then, if nothing happens we can proceed to say that they won't crack anymore but it is too premature to say that right now.

Re: kinex vs crawford

wel im not getting the plenum for a while now i think.. I was considering doing performance mods and then wheels, but i have decided that if i do wheels first, i can sell my stocks for >$1000 with tires and then get exhaust. then im only a small 1000 from being able to buy ts ecu and plenum together. I thinnk that im gonna hold off on plenum until ts comes out with the software for the 2004.5's because i dont want to run any risks running lean until they do.

Dave,
I think that he did his stock dyno last week, though I beleive that he did not get an A/F measurement done.

Re: kinex vs crawford

I just installed the Kinetix V4 last night. Pretty solid and fits like a glove. I'm not sure how this thing could ever crack, with the exception of heat cycling and getting brittle over time...but the lifetime warranty should remedy that. I like the fact I can keep my stock plenum because I trade cars often.

Re: kinex vs crawford

Rod,

It took my TS re-flashed ECU (and front cylinder spark plugs?) a few days and over 100 "open loop" miles to fully adapt to the Crawford V-5's increased, balanced, air flow.

This delay was in line with most all of my car's other modifications. The one notable exception happened recently when I did back to back heat soak tests of the stock air case (with K&N filter) vs the Stillen CAI. The power lost by re-installing the stock air case was immediately noticable and did not come back over two days of hard driving. Re-installing the Stillen CAI brought back the power after a couple of hard test loop drives.

Re: kinex vs crawford

sorry, but what does "open loop" mean exactly?

When you say that it takes time for the car to "get used" to a new mod, do you mean the ECU adjusting for new air flow and A/F, timing etc?
or are you talking about your other things also?

if you have a TS ECU, shouldn't it be already mapped for your mods?

thanks.

Re: kinex vs crawford

DaveO, I have my pre and post plenum dyno results on a thread I just posted but you raise a good point. For what ever reason I didn't go pop charger and just went k&n filter. From your results I bet I could add to the gain I got from the Crawford plenum if I went away from the stock air box....Rod
