Sneak peak of hood struts for the G35....soon !

Re: Sneak peak of hood struts for the G35....soon !
I agree with you guys. But this is why we are only using a strut that isn't strong but only strong enough to hold it. So once you start pulling it down. it will start closing on its own.

Well, I can tell you that if the hood got crumpled and the struts were pushed back. The small screws and nuts that hold the brackets on for these struts, will break. They are not that strong to withstand a impact of any type. Even the bracket itself will break.

Re: Sneak peak of hood struts for the G35....soon !
If it works it would be great, I asked about this some time back and many said because of the hood being aluminum that it probably wouldn't work.......
Please somebody.....prove them wrong, I want those struts for my hood................
My son has an older Dodge ram truck, and the inner wheel well is rusted out.....it supports the hood hinge mechanisim, when he went to close the hood the other day, the wheel well gave way, and the hood buckled at the mounting bracket and creased the boxed section which its bolted to.
Needless to say, the hood would no longer close on its own power/weight, the hood just wants to buckle at the hinge mount every time now.........just a little hood trivia to throw in the mix....
WRAH........
You need to stay out of the garden.....the sun is starting to make you sound way to intelligent for me

Couldn't you design the fastening hardware to be more robust and firmly attach the part to both the inside of the hood and the hood itself? You could incorporate a shear pin into your design so that in a frontal or partial frontal impact the pin would break and the shock would separate from its attachment to the car, allowing the hood to experience its "normal" buckling phenomenon. They use shear pins all of the time in military applications and they work very well.
Again, good luck with your design.
The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

I am glad this site is better organized than freshalloy.com. They locked the other post again, same guy even though a higher up mod told me I could repost it. But obviously thing guy doesn't know the difference between a mod trying to be develope or a commercial sale he thinks I am doing when I am not any part of it!
Anyways, they will not find out anything about it once they are complete and the guy has the go to put them up forsale on his site for you guys to go and purchase.
