Re: CAI worth getting?

Of course the factory design is safest if you don't mind the 0.5, 1.0-1.5 HP designed in restriction.

Infiniti will not warranty MAF failure if non oem air box or oiled cotton fiber filters are used.

Re: CAI worth getting?

Aftermarket intakes don't always make power. Sometimes they can actually lose power, but give the impression that there's more because of the increase in sound. The G35 intake box is really well designed and hard to improve on.

Q45tech, what do you think about the Crawford plenum? As good as some say, or another case of more noise? I know some have posted about poorer low rpm throttle response here and on other forums.

Re: CAI worth getting?

The physics [engineering] formula for plenum design have been known quite well for 15 years.

Perfectly matching lengths and diameters, flare and taper rates will result in a narrow skinny higher peak........a little mismatch will result in a nice broader but less peaky response.

Since acceleration has to take place from idle to 6500, the trick is getting the highest total area under the torque curve not necessarily getting a 3-4% higher peak for a few rpms.

Having an extra 15 HP for 0.3 of a sec in each gear doesn't do much.

At least the Crawford seems to do more than most intake mods.

All about Horsepower Dollars, how many you want vs how many you got.

Re: CAI worth getting?

I have the Inejn and dont exactly know the gains from it, but Injen claims 14.2 hp and 12 lb ft torque to the wheels. It makes the car and exhaust sound so different on the sedan, exhaust i dunno how, but other sedan owners have asked me what kind of exhaust I have and were surprised when i told them stock lol. The biggest boost you feel is in between the gears whole engagiing into the nest, I do feel the diff. and will be getting my car dyno'd friday before my other mod's. No prob with hydrolocking or anything else, it wont happen unless the intake is submerged underneath water!! I think its worht it, go for the Injen!! Martin

Re: CAI worth getting?

ill let us know your dyno result. I had mine dynoed a while back and it seems like injen is only good if you like a deeper note. If your tq and hp is even close to stock I'd be surprised.

Re: CAI worth getting?

Im happy with my AEM cai. I dunno if it gave me gains but on my Nav where it says how much fuel your using mine has gone up now that I have the AEM. It also sounds sweet!

Re: CAI worth getting?

OvaYahead so wait, you lost some hp and torque?? That's funny, when i first got it installed in my car like 8 months ago, it felt like my car was sluggish and slow, I hated it. But after 2 weeks of breaking it it started pulling hard into gears and now it even pulls harder, dunno?!?!We'll see though.. This friday, the guy keeps setting the dates back tog et my stuff installed and dyno my car but he said this friday def.!! So i'll let you guys know.

Re: CAI worth getting?

going by the dyno I lost 4hp up top. I looked at the rest of the graph and couldn't see where it improved anywhere on the band. Yes I did do a ecu reset a couple times too. I thought the car felt faster, but I guess that was all mental.

after that dyno I put the stock back on and it felt a lot nicer, no car vibration at stop light and car felt smoother.

A couple days ago I had the bumper off and wanted to give the CAI another try. off the line the car feels like it really wants to go, but up top it really does feel like it lost power. With the stock intake it didn't struggle at all to get to redline.

Re: CAI worth getting?

OMG..... That's prob why it feels like after 120 my car dies?!?! And also on the highway flooring it from 3rd to 4th it feels so slow like it has no top end anymore, god dam. We'll see, I might take it off this weekend if I see I lost power. What should a stock auto G sedan (sport) prob has no diff at all unless its handling but what is the dyno like? Any 1 have a dyno of a stock sedan? Thx
