Variable Valve Timing Question
Variable Valve Timing Question
Whats up guys. I was wondering if the VQ35 in the pre-revup coupes has VVT. If so does it incorporate lift and is it on the intake cams, exhaust cams or both?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!
There's some sort of major cam change that occurs around 2800-3000rpms. That's where the power really ramps up in my car.
Thanks again guys. When I hit around the 2800-3000 in my car i feel the extra power too but the engine note seems to change up in high rpm from 5000 to redline.
Anyway i wish we could have VVEL on our VQ35s apparently you really get a kick when they switch to high cam.

The cams are variable 0-38 degree advance over the entire rpm band and can be reprogrammed via stock ECU reflash or using a standalone cam controller like the Haltech. Lift is fixed based on cam specs.
As I recall, the stock ECU intake cam timing map has 0 degrees advance (full retard) at idle, ramps up to max advance in the midrange and then tapers back towards full retard at redline.
