I used the Thermotec adhesive back insulation for my z tube and popcharger. Part number is (the-13575) at Summit Racing.

I believe that is what the high-temp silicone spray is for... keeping liquids OUT. Hopefully it sprays ontop of the wrap, that would work best. That way it keeps liquids out and therefore no rust.

The spray I have, see pic, is meant to go on hot surfaces or as, RR says, onto the wrap itself, which would then help keep out moisture and other contaminants, as well as help insulate the coated part.
I sprayed it on both the headers and the wrap.
Sorry about the messy can......the spray has been used on previous headers.
This particular coating is Grey, but it does come in different colours.
